Director and Photographer, Zack Warren.
Zack Warren has been working in production as a director and photographer for the past 15 years. What started as a career in skateboarding morphed into directing and shooting photos of celebrities, actors, musicians, models and athletes. He is not your typical “Photographer” as he aims for candid moments on set and natural moments in real life situations.
His goal is for the people he works with to have a great time. Zack wants whomever he is working with to have fun, and feel comfortable always. He has worked extremely hard but at the heart of all his work is passion, excitement, and fun.

Absoul: I Shot this photo at the Bellasco while Absoul of TDE was opening for School Boy Q. It was madness because there were supposed to only be 3 people on stage but somehow it became 15 photographers and myself. We had shot Absoul and Schoolboy before so they were cool with me just standing directly in front of them. In hindsight it probably wasn’t the best view for the crowd but it was a fun clean shot of Absoul in the moment that took me back to old school hip hop.
Artist: Schoolboy Q. This is one of my favorite photos of an artist I have shot. I had shot Schoolboy Q a few times and I was always happy with the results but when the confetti dropped And I looked through my glass I was immediately stoked at the result. Performances are tough because there is no control and so many flashes from the audience so you never know if you’re going to get the exact shot you want but I got lucky and came out with a flick I love of School Boy.
Model: @LA_MADAME_NOIR Melissa and I wanted to shoot some exteriors and I loved her look and vibe. She made this easy, I told her I wanted risqué hitch hiking shots and she said, “I’ve got the spot in San Pedro”. We headed over there, my assistant parked the car on the shoulder and we walked up the bridge. It was a funny situation because all the truckers kept stopping and looking and honking their big horns so we had to wait for the madness and traffic die down to get the empty stranded vibe.
Luke Wood, Jimmy Iovine, Dr. Dre. I was asked to shoot the artists at the Beats By Dre Xmas party by my friend Mike Marasco. This was an amazing night and Luke Wood, the CEO of Beats, asked me to be Dre’s personal photographer for the night. This photo is pretty special as I’ve always been a fan of Dr. Dre & Interscope and this was shot right before the Apple buyout with the 3 men behind Beats By Dre.
Model: Jay Kalin @_jaykalin I met up with Jay at a loft in DTLA. It had multiple looks and she had just gotten in from Canada so we shot a ton of different photos and this was one of our favorites from the set.
I shot both of these on a trip to The favelas in Rio De Janiero, Brazil. Most of this kids had never seen themselves on a camera and the favelas were truly an unreal experience. To see these poor people living in these conditions yet smiling and being so full of life was amazing. In this particular layered photo I mixed a broken down favela playground with an image of a local baby holding a new soccer ball we brought him and his family.
Uzi and Weed: This photo was shot at my old place in Venice. I had just bought an airsoft Uzi and was super into weed at the time. Like most of my shoots, I threw out some props, told some jokes and asked the girls to grab their prop of choice, weed and an Uzi it was.
Growing up in the skate world I have seen a lot of Terry Richardsons work. When I was living in Venice I’d have models hit me up on Instagram and come by and one of the looks I would do was a Terry Richardson look just to get a feel for the models personality. It was an easy way to get a feel for a models vibe and comfort level and to me comfort, experience, and having fun is the key to a good shoot.
Madzilla. Madzilla and I have a lot of mutual friends and James Haunt who is an artist was the inspiration that brought us all together. James does dope graffiti work and illustrations and one of his characters is his version of the perfect girl. I hit him and Madelyn up and asked if we could bring that character to life and they were both down. Before all the paint was ready Madzilla and I popped off some fun flicks and then James painted her to match an illustration he made. This was a fun night and I’m really happy with how the pics came out. If you have the opportunity to shoot With Madzilla, do it! she is easy to work with and always a blast. @madzilla

Model: Veronica Sixxx. Veronica and I started talking and I was so blown away by her look and the huge “Fuck You” tattoo across her ass. I wanted to do something that highlighted how pretty she was but also showed more than just ink. We decided on a fire escape in DTLA and the sun ended up setting at the perfect time and gave us some amazing lens flares along with Veronica Killing the fire escape.
Models: Maylisa, Kaleen, Melissa. This Photo was on the fly. I was shooting this girl Melissa & Kaleen and Melissa’s roommate was watching and said she wanted a sexy picture since she had never taken a photo like this before. She asked if she could shoot a sexy photo with her Wu Tang painting which I thought was amazing. The other girls watched and cheered her on and I asked if all three of them would pay homage to the WU and they were down and we got this look. I was stoked, Wu Tang ran it on their insta too. It was a funny one that was spur of the moment and I’m always down to shoot spur of the moment.
Artist: Peaches. I was in the Desert shooting a show for the Eagles of Death Metal and Peaches opened up for them. Her publicist and I had an immediate rapport and I stayed on stage with her for the whole set and she blessed me with some amazing looks. If you can see her show I advise you go, it’s one of the most entertaining live shows I’ve seen.
